Devoting your life to making art takes guts.

It’s certainly never provided anyone with a sure-fire path to financial security.

And given the financial challenges for many newcomers to Canada, it’s a wonder that anyone who is new to this country would pursue art as a career at all.

But many have, and Canada as a country is richer for it.

I’m Paolo Pietropaolo, and coming up on season three of Countless Journeys you’ll have a chance to get to know some of the incredibly talented artists in the creative and performing arts who also happen to be immigrants to Canada.

People like singer Jorge Requina Ramos, who was born in Mexico City, and has called Winnipeg home for more than twenty years:

“The Mariachi Ghost is an entirely Canadian experiment. We were able to create something that was multicultural, a reflection of the city that we live in.  It's a very, very Canadian experience and we're very proud about that.”
